Distributable Player Expansion – 45 Countries

This application is created by interactive maps. You can also have your visited countries map on your site. If you see this message, you need to upgrade your flash player.

We’ve been hard at work enabling support for new countries with the Flash Lite 3.1 player, enabling you to use the most recent player with the Adobe Mobile Packager 1.1. I’m happy to announce that we’ve continued to accelerate the addition of new countries around the world adding 16 countries, and bringing the total to 29.

The countries are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK and the USA.

Right now we’re looking at how to enable support for new devices on a platform level, so rather than certifying each device we can certify whole platforms.  It’s not an easy task but we’re very confident that the player won’t start breaking.

Good stuff. Enabling at platform level has to be the goal here. Certification of individual devices is what killed the Flash Lite/BREW ecosystem in the US with FL2.1 because it’s such a labor intensive process. Well done guys.

Good job guys! Question for you Mark, can the flash lite player be distributed to devices not officially supported by Adobe? For example, there are many devices that use the WM6.1 platform, and we know the player works on WM, but can it be legally distributed (along with the application) to those devices?

    Hi Mojo,

You should check the terms of distribution on our site, as I understand them you can only distribute the player over-the-air using our mechanisms.

If you manually install the cab files then I don’t see an issue there at all, as long as you check that you content doesn’t break!!

Well the issue is the over-the-air download does not work due to error along the lines of “device not supported”. Although the device is a WM6.1 OS, and everything works fine with the manual CAB file. The second issue is that the devices don’t have access to the internet.

The terms and conditions don’t really give me an answer unless i pay a lawyer to figure it out for me.
