Winners of the Flash Lite Developer Challenge

flashlitedeveloperchallenge

So here they are the Winners of the 2009 Flash Lite Developer Challenge, a huge congratulations to you all.  We’ve been really impressed with all the hard work and improvements in design year on year.

A large number of the entrants used the Flash Lite Distributable Player, to ensure consistency across their supported devices.  It’s great to see the pick up on this and the community begin to release content with the latest runtime.  In a post last week I announced the Mobile Packager 1.1 release, and this will undoubtedly serve to bring these applications to market.

GetJar

Winning developers will have their applications placed in either the New & Cool, Featured or Recommended areas on GetJar.com and m.getjar.com for durations equivalent to the value of their prize.  With only about 100 total slots available per month, this gives them guaranteed visibility among the more then 45,000 apps on GetJar to over 10 million unique app hungry consumers coming from 200 countries around the globe.  Their apps will also be visible across all the channels GetJar works with including stores on Opera Mini, 3UK, Virgin Mobile (France), Vodafone (Ireland) and about 12 other carriers / mobile operators.

this is fantastic news and a true testament to the creativity and great work of flash developers. We’re excited about seeing this level of quality and innovation at GetJar and are certain Flash developers can compete with any other platform out there. As a matter of fact, we’ve just seen one Flash developer – Animion – crack the top 100 applications on GetJar for the first time EVER with a flash app. There app “Almium Luxury Clock Screensaver” has done little over 100,000 downloads in under 4 weeks on GetJar. A record for a flash app.

    more soon ;)
