MAX Sessions for 2009 published

As some of you have already noticed we have just published the majority of upcoming sessions on Mobile and Devices topics.  It’s been quite a task pulling these together and picking out the best sessions to fit with the spirit of the event.

The economic impact has had a small part to play in reducing the amount of external speakers, but that’s not the whole picture.  As you know we’ve been hard at work building Flash Player 10 for mobile devices, we’ve launched the Digital Home platform and updates to Flash Lite in the browser continue.

MAX is meant to excite you, give you glimpses of the roadmap and an understanding of the skills that you’ll need to move your career forward.  Since most of the content is going to be about unreleased new technology there’s no way to involve external speakers.  Dale of course got asked following his Karate kid routine last year :-)

Regarding this post, there really is no point speculating on how Flash Lite fits in.  It’s much to early to be considering since AIR will not ship until 2010, however by the time we get to MAX 2009 it’s time to start talking about it.  Personally I’ve already started to learn Flex, AS3 and about AIR; which is incidentally why we have AIR style signing in the Mobile Packager!

Mark, just to be clear … so by “preview”, Adobe doesn’t mean they’re going to blaze through some demos and/or screenshots in 15 minutes, and then leave a full room of developers queued up in a line with questions to talk to any empty room?

    Just check’in. ;)

    See: http://daringfireball.net/linked/2009/06/15/arment-wwdc-fu

I wouldn’t think so, given past Adobe MAX’s, I would expect that, and I hope Apple didn’t set a trend in this (snooty) behavior. :(

      Hi Scott,

I can’t talk specifics, but you can expect most questions to be answered. There will be demos of code and apps at a minimum, including AIR, Flash 10 and Flex.

      Well done on the book!

      Mark

Whoops “I wouldn’t expect that” from Adobe. :)

We’ve been working on a new Flash Mobile and Device book people may be interested in:

AdvancED Flash on Devices: Mobile Development with Flash Lite and Flash 10
    http://www.friendsofed.com/book.html?isbn=9781430219040

Of course, much of the FP10 content is very early, to say the least. Nevertheless, we thought it important to try to get a resource out there … one that covers both Flash Lite development and even early FP10 on devices (Flex and AIR).

Those interested in developing for Flash Lite specifically, can pick up the legacy Foundation book: http://www.flashmobilebook.com (although it only covers 1.1 and 2.x development, a lot of content can be valuable for developers).

Of course, there are tons of other great materials online as well.

Sounds encouraging. Might have to reweigh the conference price tag.
