As you know we launched the Distributable Player Solution on Flash Lite 3.1 at Mobile World Congress this year. There has been a huge pick up of the Mobile Packager, totalling tens of thousands of users.
I’m really excited to see this because it demonstrates that we built something (together) that is clearly needed. This is a beta though, and that means we’re still building the product and listening to you. We’re working hard on the next version and the focus is on nailing the workflow, particularly with signing and enhancing the user interface.
Though the idea of this post is to ask for some proposals on our next major release. To give you some context, we’re working flat out to build AIR and Flash Player 10 and so anything we do now should really compliment those products. It’s also worth pointing out that more devices and countries doesn’t automatically mean more success.
In 2009:
- Bring Flash Lite 3.1 to more devices and platforms and countries, with only minor enhancements
- Bring forward some feature enhancements like Location, PIM data etc (no new platforms added)
- Focus on the Packager (move to Adobe AIR) and enabling/enhancing distribution opportunities
Obviously you can propose anything, the above items are just ideas. Legally I should indicate that none of these are guaranteed to happen, it’s only a discussion.
What would your top 3 requests be?
Mark
