REDFLY Mobile Viewer Beta

Celio have just launched an interesting application called the REDFLY Mobile Viewer. Essentially its screen scrapping technology that allows you to view and use your Windows Mobile device from your Windows PC.  Ultimately this constitutes a multi-screen experience, and that makes it interesting.

One of the benefits of this approach is that you don’t have to constantly move back and forth between your devices, and this clearly adds value for some users that have enterprise applications.

It’s a little unclear whether Flash or video playback would be a good experience for performance reasons.  Though in a previous post I indicated that Apple could take this path with their iPhone AppStore, resulting in multi-screen apps and I guess, a new Apple TV.

I’ve been testing it. Flash support is fine so long as you are not trying to play video. Video suppor is about 4 fps or so, depending on the phone hardware. For Flash content that does not rely on lots of movement and transitions it works just fine.

I was going to say “Who buys Windows Mobile?” and then I saw Steve’s post. ;)

I saw these guys at CTIA in 2008. I think they had a different business model then … the viewer looks interesting.
