A huge thanks to Giorgio Natili for organising our latest Mobile and Device User Group meeting in Rome. The event went well and we all got to know about various projects including Intelligere Flash Lite Server.
The team behind it have decided to go open source, hoping to accelerate its development and maybe help it get to other platforms.
The main features of the Flash Lite Server are apis for File access, Networking, Video playback and Downloads. May of you will know that File access if the highest priority feature for Flash Lite right now, so using the FLS you can get started immediately.
I would suggest that packaging these APIs as a single EXE server or SIS file for installation would be a great feature. That way when a developer wants to use the APIs they can simply start the server using FSCommand2(“Launch”, “FL_APIS.exe”). Obviously a single benefit here is to be able to include the SIS package for installation with the Adobe Mobile Packager, and Flash Lite 3.1 over the air.
