This year at the Mobile World Congress our friends at WIP are holding a JAM Session for developers. We’re sponsoring the event and the agenda is quite different, more like a BarCamp in fact. Various other companies are going to be there, no doubt with opportunities for selling your applications and answering questions.
Check out the registration page and agenda here.

Open Screen Project – RTMP spec for Flash Video
Posted by Mark Doherty in on January 21, 2009

The Open Screen Project strikes again, and this time we’re opening up the RTMP specification a protocol used extensively for delivering data and services via the Flash Platform.
It’s really important for us to open up important technologies like SWF, FLV, F4V and RTMP, to enhance reliability and foster innovation on the Internet. In 2007 we announced support for RTMP on mobile devices via Flash Lite 3, and at MAX we demonstrated enhanced support for FLV with our Flash Lite 3.1 Distributable Player. With the new runtime we added APIs for seek, enhanced buffer support and video smoothing.
2009 really should be a huge year for video on multiple screens and I think this announcement will serve us all very well in years to come.

Well I hope 2009 is treating you well, as you can see my Xmas season went well… my mother’s Warcraft guild has grown to 92 people and there was a monkey suit. It has a blonde wig at one point too..
So to business, while I’m still on holiday I thought I’d drop you a note to inform you that you can download the Flash Lite 3.1 update for Adobe Device Central here.
As well as this the new Online Device Library Update 1 is complete, we have added 59 new profiles including the Sony Ericsson C905 and devices like the N96, N85 and N79 from Nokia. All you have to do is connect to the Online device library to get access to these profiles using Adobe Device Central CS4.
