its great to see another handset co taking FL seriously. Can adobe share any stats about how big a factor UI is in someone's purchase decision on a new phone? Carriers always say content is.

[Markd] - Do they? I don't remember ever being sold a phone on the basis that I could get content, features yes, shiny case check, but never content..

Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG, Motorola and many many other OEMs use Flash Lite in their UI layers. Many operators use Flash Lite to ensure a seamless and rich experience for their users and negotiate with OEMs to enable them. Some OEMs feel that their experience is part of their brand and won't alter their devices heavily for an operator. Brands also want to move into mobile and in our work with Verizon and Telenor we are enabling data services (Flash Cast) to deliver incredible brand driven Flash experiences.

These clues should give you some indication about a users purchase decision, you can have a shiny case but if the UI sucks then you won't be showing it off to your friends.

Sony Ericsson have shown that UI and experience count by integrating Flash Lite in their device platform, enabling haptic feedback and visual OLED cues with Flash. In the future they will enable user generated theming and this shows that personalization still counts too.

EXPERIENCE REALLY MATTERS

Hi I have this phone in the U.S., it's great! Didn't even realize it was Flash Lite until I saw Scott's blog post about your blog post! The interface is identical to my 790a and the pre-installed games are Java apps...

How do we figure out what flash lite version it uses? Would it be possible to update to Flash Lite 3 in the future? hmm....

[Markd] - Hey Fuad, It uses FL2.0 and to answer your question, the answer is no. Flash Lite needs to be ported to platforms in order to gain access to their networking, sound, video and now browser functionality.

Not that it matters, is the UI 1.1 or 2.x?
